What is the minimum connection time on interline journeys?

Currently there is a 1 hour minimum connection time applicable on interline bookings between Air Chathams and Air New Zealand. This means you will not be able to book a connection with less time between the two airlines' flights.

How does seat selection work?

Can I check in online for an interline booking?

Yes, you can check in online for an interline booking. You must check in with the airline that operates the first flight in your interline journey:

  • If your first flight is operated by Air Chathams—for example, Whakatāne to Queenstown via Auckland—online check-in for your entire journey is available through the Air Chathams website.
  • If your first flight is operated by Air New Zealand—for example, Queenstown to Whakatāne via Auckland—online check-in for your entire journey is available through the Air New Zealand website or app.

What happens if one of my flights on an interline booking is disrupted

If one of your flights is delayed or cancelled, the airline operating the affected flight will contact you directly, arrange an alternative journey, and cover any eligible costs resulting from the disruption.

Can I check my baggage through to my final destination if I am on separate Air Chathams and Air New Zealand bookings?

The interline agreement only applies to bookings made as a connecting journey. If your Air Chathams and Air New Zealand flights are booked separately, you will need to collect your baggage at the intermediate point and check in for your next flight with the relevant airline.

Why can I not find a connecting flight between my desired origin and destination?

While we have attempted to ensure good connections between the two airlines' networks, there may be a limited number of city pairs on any day where it will not be possible to book an interline flight because the flight schedules and seat availability do not permit a valid connection on the day. It is also not currently possible to book an interline journey that connects to two or more connecting Air New Zealand flights (for example Whanganui to Timaru via Auckland and Wellington).

Can I book an interline journey to an international destination?

Currently, our interline agreement with Air New Zealand only applies to domestic travel. If you are booking international travel, you will need to make separate bookings.
